Electrical Question
I bought the temperature controller from the gent in Canada that advertises on ebay. My units is a 240V controller and contactor. I have all the wiring sorted out for the controller, contactor, heating elements and control switches. He's telling me not to use the common, that tells me I don't have a circuit. I'm assuming that he thinks I'm using a switch box on the oven and that I have everyting terminated in the switch box and that from there I just have to bring the two hot wires into L1 and L2 from the switch box. I'd appreciate some conjecture on the subject.
The oven is not built, it's 4'W X 5'H X 3.5'D and has 7,800 watts using 3 elements, 2 low on the sides and 1 slightly higher on the back. I have a 3 speed motor driving a 14 inch condenser fan blade. It draw air up the center of the oven and ejects it out of many vents around the fan shield to direct it out and down the sides past the heating elements so that it may be drafted back up the center.
The entire oven is built of 20 ga. CRS. Behind the interior steel is a layer of Diplag 95 which is a self adhearing silica cloth heat sheild used in boiler that is rated to 1,200F. Behind that I used R-13 insulation. My heating element boxes are lined with Fiberfax and a high temerature glue, both ceritified to 2,300F. My through wall EMT is stuffed with Fiberfax to prevent heat loss into the electrical tubing.
I have yet to attach the top as I'm still designing the pull out rack system so that I don't have to reach into the oven to hang items. I still have anumber of small items before I can fire it up, but work progresses, and for that I am pleased.
Right now ladies and gents, I could really use some imput on the basic electrical hookup.
Regards and Thanks,
Glen
