Thumbs up propane heater

hi,i just got done building a oven. 6'Hx4'Dx3'W. i made a 8" hole at the bottom of my oven and plan on using a propane heater. the heater will be at the end of a 2' peice of tubing. is this safe or do i have to put something at the end of the tube. aslo is there something i can use that will shut the heater off when it get to the the right temp and ignite the heater when it gets below said 400. thx jim

I don't know too much about gas heated ovens. I do know you need some type of heat transfer system, like in your home heating system, to isolate direct flame contact with any possible fumes or components in your oven.

Ya, I would be VERY carefull using flame heat. Powder in cloud form is explosive, and I am not 100% sure if the gasses given off bu curing are safe either. Like was stated, Professional ovens that use gas heat have a heat transfer, or they are assured in the design that the flame will never see combustables in the oven. Could be making a very big bomb

i have NO idea if this would be helpful, but i thought i'd post it bc i rememberd coming across it... mcmaster-carr has a "remote heat controller":

"Just plug your heating equipment into one of these controllers and turn the adjustment knob to set. "On-off" cycling controls the amount of time a heater is on by proportioning electric power at line voltage. You should monitor your temperature with a separate thermometer. Controllers have a 6-ft. power cord with three-prong plug. Units operate on 115 VAC, and provide 115 VAC up to 1500 watts. The solid-state model reduces arcing of the switch contacts."
