Just regular Fiberglass insulation is what most people use. It holds up to alot of heat.
Build lazer's, freakin cool. I want one

I think the best stuff to use is Owens Corning #703 ridge fiberglass it's easy to work with, it stands up by it self. I'm from Pittsburgh I got mine at George V. Hamilton Inc. in Mckees Rocks 412-771-0900 www.hamiltongv.com mine was 2" x 24" x 48" sheets. Cover the hole inside with metal before you fire it up lol lol wow did that stink. Rock wool is good also. And you can cut it with a little hand saw

I am going to be making a fridge oven I thought I would be doing sooner but **** happens, any way I was wondering why the insulation that is already in the fridge cann't be used if it will be covered with either sheet metal or cement board? and would it be better to make it lying on it's side with the elements on the sides, for more even distribution.
thanks Rich

I've read in some other posts that the fridge insulation will not take the heat and possibly burn. I'm not sure though. I used mineral wool in mine.

Here is what I did with my fridge retrofit. I pulled the door off and took off the liner. Then simply exposed the insulation to propane torch. If it burns remove it. If not you should be good to go.
