You will not get an accurate temp with a IR gun on alum foil Or any shiny surface for that matter. Different materials have different emissivity ratings. meaning, they give off different IR levels for a respecive temp. Flat black works the best for IR guns. Even different color powders will have different temp readings. Try coat a bunck of test panels different colors, then heat the oven to 200*. see what the gun says. IR guns are good, if your doing the same thing all the time.
