Default Refrigerator Oven build

I'm planning to use a refrigierator to build an economical powder coating oven. I've read what posts I could find in this forum, but I want to clarify. Are these the basic steps?

1. get fridge, remove all plastic and rubber insulation
2. create an "inner box" using sheet metal, and use screws/standoffs to attach it to the refrigerator shell.
3. stuff high-temp insulation in between the sheet metal "inner box" and the refrigerator shell.
4. make end sections from sheetmetal to completely encase the insulation.
5. wire up electrical (elements, thermostat, contactor, etc).

Does that sound about right? I was a little unclear on how to attach the "inner box" to the refrigerator shell.

thanks,

Matt

It all sounds good to me. A little trivia info...that's the same way the space shuttle crew compartment is attached to the shuttle itself, like only 4 small attachment points to minimize heat transfer...anyways Also on your insulation instalation...say that 10 times fast...lol...don't over stuff the insulation. Measure the distance between your inner and outer shells and get the insulation in a thickness as close as possible. Fiberglass insulation works by using the cavities in the fiberglass to create an air barrier, if you cram it all in there, the "R" value will go down and actually have less insulating properties. Hope this helps
