A bit of an update to my oven. I would probably be done by now, except that I keep changing things. Want it sturdy enough to hang an engine block from the ceiling, but want to be able to place one or several racks in it as well. Have a small business that may want me to powder coat their meter boxes. They do hundreds of those things and I want to be able to keep up with their demands.

So far I have all the sheet metal cut and have rolled stiffening beads in the sheet metal and have a couple mounted as of yesterday with the insulation and should finish mounting the rest of them today. Also am planning on running the wiring in the doors for the lights and hopefully my lights and glass will arrive today.

The unfortunate thing about my oven is the fact that I started out planning on building it one way and as I finished planning it, I was heading in a different direction. So I have to live with the 28 ga. sheet metal for now. Although, if it don't appear to work out, I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and change the insides to 20 or 22 ga. galvanized. And after I got ready to apply the sheet metal I found out that it wasn't wide enough to use it in one full sheet, so I have had to run it sideways. Meaning, I was 3'x8' sheets and had to cut them in two and use them that way. But it works. Just makes more work for me. Will post more pics after today's building cession.

Some more progress. Got all the insulation and panels attached yesterday. Will do the doors today and possibly the wiring for the control box. Next I need to figure out the lighting, the glas for the door and then I need to figure out the circulation fan.

I would spend more time and money on the frame and save on the skin. After all the frame is whats hold up the weight. Heavier gauge steel for skin does'nt do much for th "R" value anyway. I am going to use a thin skin metal, and down the road when I am rich and famous may go a little heavier. As for now since it is not my main source of income the thin gauge skin will do fine

That's pretty much how I figured it. With the frame doing to major part of the support work, I went with 28 ga. steel. If I had it to do again ( actually I do, a smaller one) I think it would be closer to 22 ga and maybe galvanized But next I have to get my spray booth done. I should be able to fire the oven this weekend, maybe Sunday. Need to put latches on and finish the wiring.

Feel free to ask questions about my oven. It ain't as pretty as some of them, But I think it's going to work pretty well.

Hoping to fire it this weekend. Have to finish wiring and then put my door latches on. Also want to get my fan and vent pipe on it. So, maybe tomorrow.
Hmmm I may have changed the link and forgot to do it here (duh).

Default Re: My Oven is coming right along - Oven Fired

After finishing the wiring and a couple of minor items, I had to wait until today to fire the oven. Fired right up and heated up very quickly. Impressed me. Better then my kitchen style oven does. Have some adjustments to do to the Controller as far as shut off variables and turns on. Can also control the amount of time that the elements will be fired, as in every 1 sec to every 200 secs. My controller also has a cool down cycle, which I don't plan on using. But IT WORKS! Now where are all those parts at
