Default My Oven is coming right along

Just thought I would post about my oven.
It is made from 2x2 scrap tubing. Sheet metal is 28 gage. Won't use that again. To flimsy. It's a good thing I put it on a frame or I would have a wondering wiggling oven.

Measures 3x3x68" on the inside. 40" x 39" x 72" outside. I wanted 36x36 on the inside. Need to do wiring and setup a fan. Have double doors, so it wouldn't tip when the door was opened. Besides, I like to double door idea.

Have to find oven door glass and lights next, so I can see inside. Anybody know where I can get the glass cheap?

Default Re: More done today

Actually, i got some more done yesterday and today. Was able to get the rest of the sheet metal inside and run the element wires. Put in 4 tracks at different heights (12" between them from the top down.). Used an old garage door track for this. Will put the door rollers on my racks so I can easily slide them in place (I hope). Tomorrow I hope to mount the electrical box as well as insulation and sheet metal. Also in the center top, I put and sliding door track to hang long items from. Also plan on using garage door rollers for this and attach them to a type of trolley.

Doors, door seals, lights, fan and soon I hope, glass. Am planning on mounting the lights on the insides of the doors, so they will swing out of the way when I open the doors to put in or take out item being coated. Didn't want to put the lights on the walls for fear of tripping and breaking them. I have more photo's located at http://s80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...Powder%20Coat/

Looks like you're coming right along! I was going to mount some things to the side of my oven that I could put a metal rod on top of...kinda sit down in a cradle thing so it wouldn't go anywhere. Maybe 3 on top and 3 in the middle and I could place the rods in as I need them. Kinda on a halt on mine though because I'm waiting on my control box to be built so I can route my wires where I need them without digging through insulation! Nice solid frame you have on yours....good job man!

Thanks for the flowers. But I'm a little concerned now about the sheet metal that I used. It's 28 gauge black steel. I've read somewhere, can't remember where, to use stainless or galvanized. Is this true or will I be okay with what I have chosen?

Black steel, is plain cold rolled steel. No finish on it, at this point. Just wondering about the reaction to the heat and so on.

28 ga. is probably a little flimsy to use on the interior.

After getting it, I found that out. So my Son and I used our bead roller and run beads in all the inside panels and will do the same with the outside panels tomorrow. I think the next oven built, will be 18 or 20 ga. galvanized. Besides, it's purtier
