I was thinking the exact same thing. But the threads that I have read are saying it will work. So far everyone here have been very helpfull with the questions and help that I have needed so I have no reason to secound guess and I will give it a try. Right now I am very buisy and my oven project is on hold for a while but I will certainly keep reading and as soon as I have results I will pass them on.......................

Go to the member list and look up "RossL". It's an older thread but they talk about the kerosene heaters and I have a propane heater. There was another guy who talked about useing an automatic damper. All this makes sense but I am with you, it hurts my head to think about the air exchange and the heat thats involved. OH well I quess we will just have to find out...............

The thing I've wondered is how come the hot air blowing through the box doesn't blow powder off the part. The only way I could figure that didn't happen is that the box didn't have an outlet, or only had a small one. Is that the way it works?

hello. i have a oven 6x4x4. i use a torpedo heater. on the side toward the bottom center. i use a 10" , 2 ft peice of ducting. this way the heater doesnt blow off ur powder plus if ur part is toward the bottom it wouldnt burn the powder. this works great for me. i use a 50,000 to 85,000 btu heater. hope this helps

If I can ask? what do you use for a vent? It has to have ventalation. I know I will have to do a trial and error but a starting point would be very helpfull and appreciated. Again thanks for everyones help...................

i used a 4'' piece of ducting at top center of the wall. not the same side as where the heat comes in.this also helps my oven to heat up faster for some reason.

Hi, I am a newbee but will put my two cents worth in about propane heat . My oven is only 4ft. H. 3ft.w. 2ft. deep, I used the propane heaters from Northern Hhdraulics that attach to the 25 lb. cylinders. The ones that I used are twin burner, I used two ,cut two rectangular holes in the lower back side of the oven,I forgot to say thatmy oven was made from a metal storage cabinet insulated on the outside with fiberglass. on the inside I have a baffel about 2"-3" from the heater, They heat up fast to 400+ in ten or fifteen min. have to be careful or it is over 500 have to shut one off . I have only done 10 or 15 pieces but they all came out nice, no problems, all my own stuff mostly sheet aluminum M.C. fenders ect. Tried extreem chrome with clear not so good probly my fault, two heavy? Anyway it seems that propane works real good. Any tips on applying the extreem chrome would be helpful, would there be a benefit to a higher priced gun? P.S. I don"t know what a tube type propane heater looks like.

Tube heaters are also called shop heaters, salamanders, etc.
