After much thought and a project just shy of a small oven and no way large enoguh for a large oven i have come to build a pregnant oven. I used a very good source off the board to help me. You know who you are and thank you. After about three hrs of talks i have a list of stuff for a lowes run. It is as follows:
1 switch box (this will be to turn off the second element when not needed) 1 flexable conduit package 2 extra conduit ends (plastic and goes into the switch box) 1 30A 220V switch 2 fence post tops 2 90* conduit bends (metal) 2 pcs of flat stock (elevates the element) 10 small l brackets 1 bag of 1/4x20 nuts and bolts 3 conduit holders 4 pcs of foil duct board 3 pcs of drywall cornerbead 3' of high temp wire 12/2 with ground 8' of regular wire 12/2 with ground 1 tube of high temp silicone 1 roll of foil tape at the bottom is a zip file with this list in an excel spreadsheet for you to print out and price everything out. As i get the stuff together and build i will be posting the pics. I am pretty sure this would be a good list to take to home depo or lowes but i in no way take blame if you choose to use this info and hurt yourself or your property. well the attachments are as follows
pregnant oven2 is the cost of all items from local distributors and tax out the door cost and pregnant oven3 is the adjusted cost taking into account the stuff that i have found in the garage. This will be a great addition to the shop so I will be doing the build in the next week or so. |

THe first pic shows the one wire going down to the bake element the second shows the hook up to the broil element. The broil element has a jumper wire that feeds down to the bake element. Last edited by krymis; 03-08-2007 at 11:19 AM. |

more pics.......
the first shows the wire cluster under the metal cover. THE second shows the broiler element feed wire from the termastat cut and the bake element wire cut and the broiler element disconnected. I am going to nut the two wires together to get the 220v to the bake element. Then i will run another wire teed into these into a junction and feed the broiler element that was moved to the door. more pics......
these show the wiring feeding the oven from the wall. I use 10/3 w/ ground to feed my oven on a 20a circuit breaker. Make sure the green wire is attached to the frame after you are done or the oven can then become a hazard. the second picture shows the broiler element removed from the oven.
