you only need hi temp in the oven to connect the elements. The sheating of regular wire will not hold up. I learned this from jason and my build of the pregnant oven.

I also put fuses in line with everything, just in case. If it shorts, the fuse will stop it in it's tracks before a fire.

You can get 14g/50 amp (high temp) wire at MacMaster-Carr for $2 per foot.

I can't give you a direct link, but search for "wire" then select "appliance wire" and choose your ratings as needed.

I have scrounged heaters, and thermostates out of old ovens. But dont stop there, the insulation and the wire could also be reused. This brings down the price of oven building considerable. I know that there is not much insulation, but every little bits helps in a pinch and I can be the king of penney pinching especially when it comes to experimenting. I am not a fan of wasting money, it's to hard to come by these days....................

well,i'm going to have to do a littler researching.i've only done basic household wiring and it seems your average awg wire is totally different than tggt wire(or any other high temp)when i use 12g wire at home its usually rated for 20amps.but it seems hi-tenp 12g is for much higher amperage.is this correct.so,if i'm using 3-3000 w elements....37.5 anps per my calculations.i can get away with 14 or 16 g tggt.....ELECTRICIANS....help.....will
