wtf? i was using an electric oven...before i built my own. and when you put something that will smoke ie. valve cover with oil inside the baffles...the smoke comes out exactly where listed. if smokes comes out...then there's your vent.

so does that mean you didnt use a vent on your new oven, you just let it puff out smoke anywhere like a house oven does?

My electric kitchen oven is vented. It comes out near the right rear range top coil. I can nearly boil a pot of water there when I'm baking my pies.

All electric ovens are vented. Either through the center of a burner or along the back. Family does appliance repair and I assure you in over 10000000000000000000000 Electric ovens we seen go through from the 60's on have a vent. If the venting is not controlled and the oven just hopes the moist air escapes through loose fitment the electronics of the oven would last but months. When building a custom oven you definately want to vent, especially when prebaking oily parts.
