Vent is there for a couple reasons.. air expands when it's heated and needs a place to go.. the other is during the curing process gases, smoke and by-products are given off.. nasty stuff and it either goes out the vent or in your shop

well out the vent would be in my shop with the garage door open.

why doesnt the household oven need a vent for expanding air to go? and wouldnt that make let the heat out and draw more electricity to keep the heat up?

just trying to learn, thanks

Much smaller volume in a household oven.. they vent by way of loose construction.
It's actually harder to reach temp with no vent.. My oven heats much quicker with the vent open..

with the vent closed on my oven it takes 35 to 40 min. to reach 400. with the vent open it only takes 12 to 15 min.

A household oven is vented. On a range it is usually above and behind the burners(where the clock usually is).

All you have to do is use a 1/2 or 3/4 inch pipe with a u bend (2 90's) out of the top of the oven. Nothing drastic.

wrong, oven is not vented and over the range is just a filter, does not vent out.
