It appears to be a 40A relay. How many of what watt heaters are you planning to run? That will determine if you need more.

I'm running 3 2580 watt elements, 7700 watts. So it should draw 32 1/4 amps. So at 40 amps i should be good.

That sounds about right but I would mount the SSR on a 6x6 heat sink.

120v? There's no way you're going to get 7700 Watts off a 120v line so I'm not sure what you're asking. I thought you were running 240. L1 + L2 = 240v. Any Line to Com/Neutral is 120v. (L1 + Com = 120v, L2 + Com = 120v) When you use L1 & L2 for 240v, you switch one of them. Something like this:

After thinking about what you asked, I'm wondering if you mean whether you need to switch both legs of the 240? While not necessary, it does add a safety factor. I would hope that anyone working on an oven would unplug the unit. Some folks that use contactors will wire the switching like the diagram below. You can duplicate this by adding another SSR and trigger it with the same connection as the first.

I use a contactor for my oven, but am thinking about changing to an SSR. They make some where my wife works and I'm going to ask her Boss to get me one to check out. In the meantime, I have attached a pic of my wiring configuration. It is with a contactor, but should give you some idea, maybe.

As I understand it, with an SSR, you won't need to have the jumper on the Controller. I have to work it out when I do it. Hope it helps.

Great you answered my question. I did not know if i needed to switch both legs or not. But i believe i will to help add a safety factor and get as much life as i can out of the ssr(s). Thanks
