glue the flat part of it with high-temp mortar & rivet it every 5 inches or so.

The high temp mortar I've heard of but not using it on a door seal. All you need to do is hold it in place when the door is open. Rivets or screws should work. Did you get one with a tail or just the rope style?

ooooh. should have got the seal with the tail. it's easier to install, but not a big deal.

Just glue it in place with good quality RTV silicone

sure, either will work fine, however if you are budget conscious the mortar is a way better deal. you get 3 times as much in a tube for 1/2 the price & it is easier to work with.

are you saying the high temp mortar is similar to a silicone/caulk type product? when i see 'mortar' i think of a cement/sand based product. i have seen the 'mortar' but figured it wasn't what i wanted.
