Default wiring a 110V oven

I have a cheapo HF rotassarie oven that I've been trying to use. I can't get any conistancy out of it, so I though maybe I'd try using the temp controller, thermoprobe, and SSR I bought for making my own oven. Due to circumstances, I can't build the oven just yet.

Anyways, the temp controller is a Aubers "universal temp controler", on this page
.
The SSR is their 50 amp model, and K type TC.

The wiring schematic sample shows a 220V circuit, so I'm kinda stumped as to how it could be used for 110V.

Any ideas, anyone?

John

What page?
Nothing shows up on a Google of Aubers temp controllers either.

Don't know why my link didn't go...

here...

Fella I work with says it looks like they mislabelled the diagram or caption in the instructions. I think I have it now.

The diagram says 110v but it could just as easily be 220v depending on which line-in feeds you use. For 110, use L1 and neutral/common. For 220, use L1 and L2.

Aubers' instructions alone are worth the price of the controller. I bought my first on Ebay and the instructions were worthless. I don't think the Chinese translator knew what he was even working on.

Well I wired it up according to instructions, but now the dern thing only goes to 176 degrees, when I had it programmed for 400.
Any ideas? the SSR is a 50 amp, and the TC is 6' long (I think), would that affect it? I was originally going to use these parts for a big oven in the near future, but decided to try it this way for now while I have the household oven I got for cheap for bit parts, and this 11V oven for little things and general messing around.

What's the controller doing when it gets to 176 degrees? Is your display celsius or fahrenheit? 176C is about 350F.

Its not doing anything else. The default setting is degrees F, and I programmed it for 400 degrees. My IR thermo is reading about 188 at that temp on a metal part I put in the oven. It doesn't even >feel< hot.

Does the Output Indicator light go out? I would step through all the PID parameters to make sure they are set to the default values shown in the manual on page 2 & 4. Both the controllers I bought (different make) did not match and had to be set.

Did you try to use the Auto function? Note that the default ATDU on auto-tune is set for 10 degrees below selection. So if you want 400, you'll need to auto tune at 410 or change that parameter.

You can also adjust the input off-set to get your controller to display close to the temp of a known reference. You'll have to decide which source is the most accurate. Some details of your oven would help. Where and how is the TC mounted? Near the part?

OK, I went through all the menus. Everything is at default, except the temp, which I set at 400F, and I neutralized the alarm since I don't have one.

This time, I read the instructions a little more carefully, and turned on the AT function. The AT light is blinking, and the temp is climbing very very slowly. Its currently at 171 after about 1/2 hour.

The oven is a harbor freight rotassarie oven PN#04301 (I haven't looked it up, so I don't know if they still offer it). It has 4 rod type elements connected in series. When I decided to convert to the digital controls, I stripped the old controls out. I have the SYL 1512 temp control, type K thermocouple, and the 50 am SSR all from Auberins. I added a on/off toggle switch on the positive line before the temp controller. The line cord looks to be 12 or 14 gauge stranded, and I used some of the 16 gauge stranded wire that the oven was wired with, and some 14 gauge solid I have on hand to wire according to the auberins diagram.

I don't wont pretend to understand all the PID parameters in the instructions, as its my understanding that the auto tune function will set them eventually, but is there any way to get this thing to heat faster??
