Sorry, I don't get on here as much as I used to. But I have seen where someone does use gas. Don't think I want to, but then that's me. You will need to do a search of the Forums to locate the thread on the gas fired.

some guys use tordedo heaters, which there are threads on that but from my knowledge you want to keep flames away from the powder coated parts because the powder is flamable. You would have to have a seperate burner and duct the heat into the oven, which is basically what is happening with a torpedo heater. Don't over think it, keep it as simple as possable. So far everything I have serched into points to electricity. Safest and easy to manage. Besides if you are coating to make money some one else is paying the cost to coat the parts not to mention alittle for you. In the long run simplicity will keep your operating costs down which means more PROFITS for you. After all, isn't that whats its all about, $$$. I think thats the little cabana girl now with my drink now.....LATER......................

i just finished a gas oven. i'll post some pics soon. basically, the burner tube i used has a burner pan (a v-shaped plate) connected directly to the top of it. i made some simple sheet metal spacers to place the edges of the pan ~2in from the bottom of the box. the elbow of the burner tube had a mount that i used without the need for a spacer, i think.
