    Default Oven electrical controls

So Ive ordered a pair of 3k Watt elements and am looking for the rest of the electrical components of my oven I am looking at this temp. controller:

    edit:

Okay, just saw the SSR's on that same site...
just need to figure out which to get.. I have 5000 watts at 240 volts, so about 20 amps. Should I just get the 40 amp SSR in case I want to add another element? There is no problems with getting an SSR with too high of an amperage, right?

Finally, is this all Ill need to complete the electrical part of my oven?

The PID looks like most of the one's available that I have seen. It should work fine for your requirements. Also the "K" thermocoupler will be fine.

On the SSD just make sure that the input voltage for the device matches the output for the PID. In this case it looks like the PID outputs 10VDC.

The 40 Amp is fine, thats what I use on my oven with 5176 watt elements. I added a homemade heat sink to the SSD. It's made out of around 1/16th inch aluminum and seems to work fine.

The other things you might consider are:

A master disconnect for the 240VAC, or disconnect the power cord or turn off the breaker
An on/off switch for the PID
A light for inside the oven
A fan or blower to recirculate heat.
High temp wire going into the elements

You will need a 30A circuit for the oven using 10ga (10/4) wiring.

If you want, send me your email and I will forward my wiring diagram. Ed
