I use kerosene in my parts washer. If you're talking about something like stripper, I think most people use plastic drums or something similar. Search the powder coating forum at Eastwood for some suggestions.

What kind of "harsh" chemicals are you thinking about? I used the liquid concentrate cleaner in mine and it promptly ate the paint from inside the tub. (overnight) It also caused a lot of corrosion to cleaned parts.

It's pricey but I switched to naptha in the shop cleaners. I occasionally add about a quart or two of lacquer thinner to boost cutting power. All the others just seem too oily to me.

Hello Don, Dona? Not sure which yet?

"one that will disolve paint, and powder coat."

WELL, I found that soaking a ford valve cover in 1 part simple green 10 parts water has removed the paint fairly well in 24-48 hours. I was only wanting to degrease the part but hose it down with a simple water hose and nozzle blows off the paint also. However, the black pulley's on a ford engine the simple green even straight does not seem to remove. For this I think a soak in LYE/water works. It has worked on a couple test pulley's but I am not sure the strength I mixed now.
Not tried to strip aluminum, lye will not work and eats aluminum!!!

Lots of stuff out there, if working with plain steel I would try a strong lye water mix. Be very careful as any in the eyes can be blinding and burns skin, but same with many other more expensive things also!
