I am having a hard time finding the insulation. Is it the same stuff they use in houses. I went to the website but I think the mineral wool is the same stuff they use in house construction. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Was the plastic on the bundles blue, white and green.

They gennerally dont use mineral wool in houses except for high heat areas like around water heaters.........

Most house insulation is in R factors, like r13, r19, r34 etc. I used r13 from home depot, but I would recommend used mineral wool if you can find it, because it is 2".

I just found out that roxul flexibatt for home use has a melting point rated at1100 degrees C or 2500 degrees F. Will this work for me.

high heat mortar-comes in a caulking tube-$3/tube. or high heat silicone-more expensive & harder to apply. either will work.

Pic of 4" thick Roxul Mineral Wool. Comes (3) bats to a pack which are 2'x4' in dimension.
