How does the oven work I am caught between a 4x4x4 and the same one that you built. How is the heatup time? How many amps does yours draw?

Thanks
Pete

I have yet to fire it up. Waiting on fan. Then to hang door and install glass. I should be able to fire it up within a 2 weeks. I can't find my email from Ken where we discussed amp draw and all that. I know I had to install a 50 amp fuse and my total element watt are (3) @ 3100 watts = 9300 watts....and going by memory amp draw is something like 37.85. Someone may be able to direct you to a program somewhere on this site that calculates element wattage and amp draw.

I went to mcmaster.com , Which tad pole seal did you get? And a link to the fan would be nice too. Thanks Rick

Tadpole seal # 8815K41 , 5/8" bulb and 1 3/8" overall. Cut and paste the part number in their search slot.

Fan was purchased from Grainger, Nothing to powerful...just enough to move hot air from top to bottom.

Fan install pics...coming soon.

Fan install. First I think I will say that if I was building another oven I would frame 1st, sheet the inside, element/fan/light install, wire, then insulate. Live and learn. With that said, I removed the back sheet metal and insulation to install the fan. Measured, and centered, cut the 5" hole, ground it as "round" as possible and drilled the fan mounting bolt holes. Before permantly installing it I am going to put a bead of RTV high temp seal around the round hole where the fan meets the sheetmetal.

I have not bought the glass yet. Another hurdle when I get the door hung.

Gator, Look for a donor oven with a glass in the door. I used the glass out of a whirpool stove. There were 3 pieces of tempered Glass, two of which were in a metal frame, with a little fabrication I had a good safe window to view the goings on in the oven. I did use all three pcs. Fred
