Nice build on the oven. I just have one question. Why would you want to mount the fan inside the walls? If your fan motor takes a dump on you, then you have to tear the back off to get to it.

I installed mine on the outside of my oven and a good thing too. After a year of use, it took a dump and caught fire. Should have seen me scrambling around for the fire extinguisher. You had to be there. Just glad it was on the outside of the oven.

This is a good point. Also the hi temp fans have an external propeller that cools the motor shaft, lowering shaft temperature heat transferring to the motor. The specs on my Dayton high temp fan limit the motor placement to an ambient air temperature of 104 deg F. I'm not sure why you would look to enclose the entire fan motor within the walls, if that is your intent.

I haven't heard you say or talk about a vent in your oven. Are you going to put one in or is there a need for one?

Guys you are both absolutely correct. Fan will NOT be installed as it is shown in my pic. I will build a 5" tube and extend it through the wall and install the fan on the BACK/OUTSIDE of the 18ga. sheetmetal.

Vent is coming...haven't got there yet. Very simple plan: 1/2" pipe w/ flanges on either side attached to an exterior ball valve.

Waiting on hinges. Should be here soon. Bought (4) 4" x 29" heavy duty steel piano hinges off a guy on Ebay...something like 16 bucks delivered.

I've followed this thread with great interest. Gator, your work seems Top Notch. I've taken inspiration from your ideas and progress.

I am curious about heat transfer from inside to outside of your oven. It appears from the pictures that the inside and outside walls are attached to the same steel ribs. Is this correct?

Keep up the good work.

Snord

Snord, Thanks for the kind words. YES, The inside sheetmetal and the outside sheetmetal are indeed attached to the same 25 ga metal studs with 1/2" self tapping sheetmetal screws...a lot of them!!! I think I have used 3 boxes, LOL!
