Smile New To Oven Building Have a Question

I have been powdercoating small parts for about a half a year now and the demand for larger parts to be coated has grown. I have been using free apartment ovens but can only do so many parts at a time. I have 2 whirlpool ovens and a Kenmoore.

I am currently building a 4x4x6 oven.
I have no oven building expierence. I have the frame built. I am only cooking the parts up to 500 degrees max. I was wondering if the elements from my smaller ovens would worth putting into this oven? Would 3 elements be enough? Would the Controllers on the smaller ovens i have work? I have been reading alot about making these ovens but still drawing some blanks. Im not really in any hurry so i would like to do it right the first time.
I am sorry if i left anything out. If you guys got any suggestions let me know good or bad. Thanks.

MY oven is 6.5" x 4' x 4' (3) elements of 3100 watts @ 240 will do the job just fine.

How long does it normally take to heat your oven up?

My oven is not finished yet. Go here to calculate temp rise/ oven size/ watts.

My experience and I believe I have read the same from others is that this calculator is somewhat off for most oven builds. Expect a longer heat up cycle than the numbers returned.

first thing you should do is to know what is your power supply capable of (amps)
yes your oven elemets will be ok but if your power supply is good enough maybe add 1 more (total of 4) .
your present oven controler will not support 4 elements, usually made for 2 max.
but could be used if you wire your controler to a stronger relay then to your elements,
but you can buy digital controls (more accurate) easily on the web.
remember when building the frame that the insulation will make the difference
an oven with 3 or 4 inch of insulation will be much faster and easier to heat up than one with 2 inch insulation.
now a question ? why do you cure at 500 degrees
i cure everything below the 400 line and no problems

Baz the powder i got "says" it flows out at around 450 so i was just givin my self some play. Sorry for the late response been very busy.

Update on my oven. We got the door built. No insulation yet. What do you guys sugest? I am at a loss on what size element to buy and how many to use. Do you know of a good element controll box combination or will they all work together? I guess ill do some more reading on here. Ill also check on those digital controllers. Sounds alot better then the ovens original controller. I just want to do it right the first time. Thanks agian.
