Yep, I was thinking of a retrofit of a Mercury contactor in place of a SSR, but that won't work with my PID and probally most all PIDs that are dedicated to operate an SSR. A person would need to puchase a PID dedicated to a contactor that would be compatible in operating voltage and current of the contactor selected. I looked at the web site of the suggested Mercury contactor and all the info is there as far as the various operating voltages and current draws. I also read that some heat is generated, and some loss of capacity due to this heating but maybe this is not a problem as with a SSR. Fred Do you suppose you would have to sign for a Mecury Spill Kit ?

On my one oven I have PID by Barber-Coleman and a conventional contactor (mechanical type) and it works fine with it. I have one that came off of E-bay and plan on using it with the Merc switch. But will inquire tomorrow and see what the man says about it, since he is the one that got it for me.
