I'm building a 24"x24" oven,where would I mount the element?

The most logical place would be to mount it on the bottom. If you mount it to the sides, I think you would have hot spots on what you are PCing.

I've seen ovens where the elements are recessed into the walls or mounted under a grid in the floor, so as to allow for maximum usable space. My main concern would be accessibility to the oven without interference of the elements, so I would mount them where they are least in the way.

With a 24x24 oven I don't think you would see many hot spots. However, If you're concerned about uneven heating, install some sort of fan to recirculate the air.

I think a 2x2x2 oven is too small to build in most cicumstances. I would just find a old kitchen oven of that approx. size and save the effort. Now if you insist on building a small oven make it at least 3x3x3 then the element placement won't be quite so critical in space consumed and the oven will be more usefull to someone else in the future. Just an idea, Fred
