Yes it's a vent. Without the oven took quite a bit longer to heat up.....we also figured that anytime there's heat there's expansion and the vent would help with that....it's just some threaded pipe and fittings with a shut off valve...all purchased from Lowes.

Here's the rack we made....simple but effective....I'm right around 200lbs and it holds me doing a chin up.

Thats the good thing of having an oven with no floor. You can roll the rack right in and out.

So I take it you run that valve open all the time then??

I usually leave it about half way open. I'm installing the fan tomorrow...i'll post pics when it's done.
I had a couple of requests for engine blocks.....the only way I could think of getting them in and out of an oven was to not have a floor.

The wire came from the same place we got the elements from..the local appliance supply shop. The clips we used to hold the elements down are nothing more than galvanized 1/2 in clamps for securing conduit and othe half inch pipe. We thought about a window but really isn't a need.....If the oven is built right the powder is going to flow right....if it doesn't flow properly there really isn't anything you can do....it's going to have to be blasted again regardless.....atleast that's what we were thinking. I also think if there were a window I would spend all of my time staring at the parts instead of preparing to spray the next part.

Oven looks very impressive. One question. How and what did you use to build your control panel. I am looking to build an oven and would like to try building one myself.

Thanks
Pete
