Default Oven Build Cost

I posted this in it's own thread so not to highjack gators thread. Some people could have probably built a oven cheaper but this is what it costed me. I built a 48 x 48 x 78 high oven (inside measurements). All prices have tax and or shipping included. And I guess this would also depend on where you live as to cost. Here it goes.

Metal studs 25 ga. $188.25
Sheet Metal 20ga and one 18ga. sheared to size. $715.32
Controller from Ken, worth every stinking penny. $514.17
High temp wire $69.96
3 elements from local store. $77.33
Mineral Wool Insulation $70.00
2 Light fixtures and bulbs $ 8.95
Fan from Grainger $53.77
Oven door seal from Mcmaster $125.00
Somewhere around 2000 rivets $90.26
An air rivet gun and a friend with a 8 foot metal brake "PRICELESS"

Grand Total of $1913.01

Note. I have quite alot of drop pieces of sheet metal leftover.

eshine is an unknown quantity at this point

An properly built oven can be costly even when doing it yourself. I have about $2200 into my 3x3x3 oven (including stand). The way I look at is is that it was still cheaper by far to build. The majority of the cost was to pay someone to bend the inner/outer skin.

That looks great! I think I have enough sheet metal left over to possibly build a 3x3x3. I thinking I might do that if this big one works good.

The oven in the pics is eshine's and it is a great looking oven. I don't know where he got he's glass but I got mine from a local guy that does household oven repair for about 20 bucks. It was a 3 glass window but doesn't have a frame so I'm not sure how I'm going to mount it yet.

HELLO,

I just purchased the framing materials for my 3x3x6 oven. 3 5/8", 20 ga metal studs and track from a local box store, $90.00 including rivets. I'm located in the midwest (near chicago), prices must vary throughout the country. kg4mon where are you located just interested to see how much prices vary. That price also includes enough material to frame the bottom shelf. Didn't mean to hijack, I'll start a new thread and keep ya posted on my progress.
Matt

I'm located in Middlesboro, Ky. If your looking on a map I'm in the corner where Tn, Virginia, and Ky meet. I doubled my studs back to back and the top I put them on 12 centers and put a stud inside of a track and made like a square channel. So I probably bought more than I had to. But I'm about 300 lbs and I can easily to pull-ups on the ceiling of the oven.

AH that explains it. You probably have twice the material then i do. I work with Metal studs every day, with the framing you describe you won't have to worry about a thing, sounds pretty stout!
