What screws did you use to build your oven??

Getting ready to go out and pick up material to build my oven. What screws did you use? I'm asking because I didn't know if the self tapping hex head screws would interfere with the installation of the sheet metal and cause leaks?? I'm building my oven out of the 2x4 metal framing. Thanks

I used a combination of self drilling screws and rivets. I used the self drilling where nothing would be mounted over it, such as the inner and outer skins. I used the rivets on the frame and anywhere another piece would sit on top of it.

likewise. i actually used 1/8in aluminum rivets except where i couldn't fit the rivet gun. it's held up great.

We used Aircraft Cherry mac rivets......but without the pnuematic puller you would only be able to pull a few by hand without having to quit for the night.

Where would a good place to get countersunk rivets be? Do any of the usualy places carry countersunk rivets? I havn't really gone out and looked but I don't want to drive 40 miles to a place I know will have them.

The only place I know and there not cheap is EW. But you would need the tool to make the metal that way also. right? I just used self tappers everywhere, so I could pull a panel if I needed to.

i used about 300 self traping 5/8" screws and pop rivets form Lowes, they worked great.
