Default How to relocate broil element to door?

I picked up some insulation board today from Lowes to make my prego oven. I've got that done, but now I want to move the broil element to the door and put it on a switch. It's already removed since I put in a small rack for my wheels. I was wondering if someone could give me a quick rundown on how to wire it all up, and if it's possible to wire without having to get high-temp wire? I would like to try to get all my parts at either Lowes or Home Depot rather that waiting for mail order stuff.

From my original oven schematic, it looks like the broil and bake elements are both on on the bake cycle. Does this mean that I can just extend the broil wires down to the door without having to splice into the bake element wires? Thanks alot guys!!

Is putting it on the door the only option? I would be concerned about having exposed wiring going to the element. Depending on how the elements are wired and switched, you may have 120vac at one element terminal at all times. It's already removed since I put in a small rack for my wheels. I don't think running thhn or romex wire would be a good idea. You need hi-temp wire for obvious reasons. Does this mean that I can just extend the broil wires down to the door without having to splice into the bake element wires? Without seeing a wiring schematic it would be difficult to say for certain if you could just re-route the broil wires as needed. If the oven were still operational, you could just turn the oven to the 'bake' cycle and see if both elements heat up. Thanks alot guys!!
In a small oven, you might find that you don't need both elements.

I might not need both elements, but I figured a little overkill couldnt be bad. Here's a quick MS Paint showing what I was thinking about doing. Let me know what you think, and what you think I should do as far as enclosing the elec. connections at the element (junction block, something like?)

I'm where the extra work isn't worth it. I have a couple of ovens as well as a kitchen oven. When I put it on bake, the broil don't come on. And the oven heats very quick and is sufficient to do the job. I think you would be doing a lot of work for nill.

Do a search for Pregnant Oven. There's a fella that did about what your talking about last year. It should give you some info on that.

I would not leave 240vac wiring exposed, outside the oven. If you find you need to have a second element, I would look for a better way of mounting it elsewhere than the door.

Ill have metal conduit around the wire of course, Im not gonna have wires hanging outside.

The door is the best viable option I can see, seeing as how heat rises and since there is already an element on the bottom of the oven, the only low spot to mount one is the door for when it is down baking longer objects

I'm wondering if the second Element could be mounted in the bottom of the oven about 1 inch above the existing Element and a little out of alignment of the existing element with good results? Fred
