Default Anyone built an "outdoor" oven?

I do all my PC'ing at my friends shop, he's got a 2 car shop behind his house. He's been wanting to expand the shop mainly so we can start building a bigger oven. I had a thought the other day. Has anyone basically put thje oven door flush with a wall and have the oven going outside? We're trying to save some room, and Im still not sure if I want a horiz. or vert. oven, but if I go horiz. I was wanting to do it this way. Then build some kind of "roof" over the top of the oven that goes outside. Critics?

I would be concerned that any building inspector or insurance agent would consider this to be an unacceptable fire/safety risk.

it's zoned residential, its not an actual "shop" per say. it's in a small country town, and the back of the shop faces about 30 acres of woods. I undersrtand what you're saying though. Are there any precautions I could/should take? I doubt a building inspector or anyone like that will ever see this, but I stil want this to be as safe as possible without unnecessary risks involved

I understand your concern in looking to minimize the footprint space of an oven. Unless one has unlimited space available this is always a concern.

A properly insulated oven shouldn't transfer significant heat thru the walls. Beyond that I'm not sure I could offer much advise. The obvious questions would be how do you seal the oven walls to the building cutout, where do you mount the electronics, etc. I suppose you could paint the outside of the oven, or use aluminum sheeting, but that would be rather expensive.

There was a guy that did build one on the out side of his building. But he built a room around it. Looked like an addition on his building. Try a search. Can't remember who it was or the post title. Sorry.
