You haven't responded as to what type of heatsink you are using on the ssr. This is the most likely cause of your problem. If you have spacers between the control box and the oven skin, I don't see how it could possibly get hot enough to melt the ssr. For this to occur the outer skin would need to get so hot you couldn't touch or get near it. I'm assuming you don't have a conduit run going direct from the oven to the control box.

Do you have an IR or probe thermometer? If so, check the outer temperature of the oven.

Please respond as to what type of heatsink you are using. It's difficult to troubleshoot problems without know the oven setup.
