Default Please help

hello all, im new to the forum. first off i would like to say thanks to all. i have found loads of usefull info on here. i have been powder coating for about 6 months and like everyone else i need a larger oven. im currenty using an old household 30 inch oven and now have lots of request for doing larger parts. so i recently picked up 2 old metal locker type cabinets. cut the sides off both and welded them together to make 1 larger one. it measures 32 deep 32 wide and 53 high. i am currently working on framing the outside with the metal studs purchased from lowes for $1.81 a piece. i was wondering if anyone has seen or used this type of insulation i have alot of laying around and if i could use it. i got it when a school had a fire and they built a temp steel building and used this stuff to insulate it. its about 3 1/2 thick and its in 4x8 sheets. i have no clue what it is. i plan on wraping the whole outside of the oven in 20ga galvanized sheet metal. im gonna try and put some pics up. also, how many elements will i need? i just scored a double self cleaning oven and was hoping i could use all the parts out of it. any help would be nice. thanks in advance.

why don't you take a piece of it and put it in your oven and see what happens at the highest temp. that should tell you if it is resistent to heat and if it will give off any deadly fumes.

I suppose that would work, to test the insulation. The 20 ga. is good. Also, if you do a search of this forum, you will gather more info then you can shake a stick at. There are post on Insulation, Control boxes, Electrical, types of controllers. Pretty endless really. If what you find is confusing, bring up a post on it and you will surely get some help. Building an oven isn't all that difficult. Plenty of info here. Good Luck.
