That would be a little closer to 11 GA. It should work fine, that's whats in our commercial oven.
Hi All, quick metal question. I found some black sheet metal that is 1/8" thick which in my research is 18 gauge? Would the black be ok for an oven?
Thanks!

Pop is right about the gauge. .120" is 11ga. 18ga. is about .0478". I wouldn't leave it black though. Black will absorb a lot of radiant heat from the coils and draw heat from your oven. It may help maintain a more constant temperature but it will take longer to heat up (and cool down). A silver ceramic coat is available in rattle cans. It's good to around 1200" after a cure. You'll be much happier with the results than black.
By the way, that 11ga. is some expensive stuff!![]()
Thanks guys. Appreciate the information. I will see if i can work a deal.
