Default New oven any comments

A friend of mine had an old air handler cabinet he wanted to sell or trade for something. I had a stainless airline freight container so we traded. When I got the cabinet I thought it would be salvaged or beat up but it was brand new. That was the begining of my new 7x3x4 pc oven

Looks to me you have a good starter oven. Good size. I made a 3x3x6 and now wish I would have went with a 4dx6wx7h. That will be my next one, maybe. Bumpers are a biitch in my 6 footer.

Keep the updates coming.

Finally done with the insulation. It felt like I had been tortured for 5 hours being covered in glass fibers. The one good thing about mineral wool is that it cuts really easy with a band saw using a 6tpi wood blade. Next comes the steel studs.

This is what the band saw looked like after. Had to use a mask to clean it out.

For anyone keeping up will it matter that I have a 1.5 inch gap between the hardy board and the insulation?

Got my electronics. Hardy board in and fastened and corners sealed. Going to take longer than I thought.

Looks like your making some progress. Yep, I found out the same thing. It takes a lot longer then you think it would. Can't remember exactly how long mine took, but it seemed like I was not ever going to get it done. Probably wouldn't get a UL stamp of approval, but I built it as safe as I could. No problems yet.

Why the insulation and hardy board? You going to cover the inside with sheet steel?

I used both to be sure it would hold in the heat and also was hoping the Hardy board and the air gap between it and the insulation would hold heat so when I opened the door I wouldn't loose it all. The pics show it laying down it is going to be 7 feet wide and 4 feet tall The door will be the entire front on a garage door track counterbalanced to easily lift straight up. So far the door weighs about a hundred pounds.
