Default New oven build, floor or no floor?

How many large ovens have no floor and use the existing cement floor they are built on? Is this ok or must there be an insulated floor? The reason I ask is if you are moving a large heavy part from the powder coat booth to the oven, a trolley or wheeled stand I have seen a long time ago in pictures. But I think there were tracks for the wheels. I was thinking you could get the part hung and then slip a portable insulated floor piece in after the fact but that may stir up dust etc. So, the big question, floor or no floor?
    Thanks,

Added: Would just a piece of uninsulated galvanized on the floor be good enough? The heater elements will be on the sides of the oven.

i think you're onto the right idea with uninsulated galvanized. that's how i did our last oven and i like it a lot. i used 18ga, since i was worried about heat warp or damage warp. i also didn't secure it to the oven. i just tilted the unfloored oven back and slid it under. that idea was partially driven by my thought that if i didn't secure it, it would be free to expand and contract without warping, and honestly, part of it was laziness. but i've had no problems with it whatsoever, so i'm glad i did it that way.

Thanks Len. That simplifies things and allows for easier expansion like you said.

no problem. for most stuff i don't use a batch cart, so secured several pieces of perforated angle from Home Depot to the ceiling with self-tapping screws. that works well for me, too.

The thing that is nice about a floor is that you can now put casters on it to move the oven if need be. The hanging bars are nice, but its hard to transfer a coated m/c frame to the oven without disturbing the powder one way or the other. I built this rolling floor rack from old bed frames, my oven happen to be the perfect hieght off the floor so the extended legs slide right into the oven.

Then I built this teepee rack from another old bed frame and made the cross bars from angle iron with holes in it. When not using the rack for m/c frames I hang my parts to coat from it and then transfer them to the hanging bars in the oven.

And here it is in the oven with m/c frame. I have an outside ground rod with a heavy guage wire coming into the rack with a big alligator clip on it , I just clip the ground to the rack and dont ever even hook the ground lead from the gun to anything.

Thats good info. Thanks for taking the time to post it. Looks like it works rather well. How wide is that oven?

Oh, it sure doesn't take much to fill it up. I am building a 4x4x8 so mine will just be taller. It looks like yours only has 2 elements in it. Is that correct or are there 2 others I don't see in the pics?
    Thanks,
