what can i use to remove chrome off of a harley primary cover?

use 1 part hydrochloric(muratic) acid to 2 parts distilled water. ALWAYS ADD ACID TO WATER, NEVER WATER TO ACID. Immerese for 5 min to 1 hour until you see a milky white residue on the part. This residue will wash off. You can speed it up by using a lead cathode and a dc power supply if you have access to that. Muratic can be found at home depot or lowes commonly called concrete cleaner. Acid can be nuetralized with baking soda if you spill any.

One other thing, I am assuming you know the difference between the chrome layer and the nickle layer. To remove the nickle you use sulfuric acid and water. BTW nice polishing job on that aluminum primary in the pics section.

thank's fsxtcguy.... i got a set of byod's out of that deal ..it was for my uncle . switch blade style wheels 17X8 .. i got another one to do that is powder coated .. so let the fun start again ......

The cheapest is a battery distributor. I pay $15.00 for 5 gallons.
