Default Cerrotru and Silver Pewter

I'm new to plating and have not yet started any projects. I'd like to know how to plate the above-mentioned metals.

As well, I've tried to find info on Cerrotru as to whether this would make a good metal to cast scripts - with no luck. If you have any answers to my my questons, I'd appreciate it.

Default Re: Cerrotru and Silver Pewter

Hello,

I am in the process of restoring and re-plating several antique pieces of a serving set made of Britannia Metal which is very similar to Pewter in composition. As far as the other metal you mentioned, I have not heard of it before, but imagine it to be fairly similar.

My process is...
Clean and buff item.
Degrease.
Inspect for corrosion in pits (Pewter does pit similar to pot metal)
Bead blast corrosion if found.
Rinse.
Activate in Pickle #4.
Rinse.
Flash Copper.
Rinse.
Acid Copper (for filling and building)
Sand, Buff and Polish.
Acid Copper again if required.
Buff and Polish.
Degrease and rinse again.
Inspect.
etc. and so on if needed.
Final plate with Silver, Brass, Nickel, Copy Chrome etc.

This has worked thus far for me.

Best of luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Curtis
