I am working on a rear window frame off a 57 Chevy. It is cast pot metal. I have cleaned out pits and have flashed coppered it. It looks great. I am using plumloy to fill in pits. It does not flow smooth, I have used a propane and ocy-acc torch. I have also heated the metal then apply plumloy. Still the same rough surface. I am thinking of tinning it then apply plumloy. Any ideas? Also what it the best way to sand plumloy? Thanks tbreaden

I have found that after you have a good flash copper base of at least 30- 60 minutes, then applying the plum-loy with a brush to fill the pits and heating with a propane torch from the opposite side, to the point that it forms a black residue that can be wiped off using a damp cloth. You can then sand with wet/dry sandpaper 120+ grit and then buff out the sanding marks that you have created. Once this is done you can acid copper the part and buff it out to a mirror defect free finish.
