    Default anodized blue: which base?

a buddy of mine wants some parts to look like this...

    anodized blue: which base?-cap-oil-colors-02-500.jpg

it is anodized blue. from reading, i notice that different base coats (chrome, silver, etc) will give a different finished appearance. does anyone have suggestions on what base to use to achieve the above?

    also, what type of clear?

    thanks!

Looking at the piece shown, You'll need a chrome base... Possibly an actual chrome part, to achieve the desired result. The PBTP annodized colors are topcoats, and will require no clear.

The piece you showed looks like a trans blue or a candy blue.... It looks pretty shiny. The anno colors are typically flat.

    thanks Scottrods.

i am a little confused about the 'anodized blue' color. some ppl say it is the same as trans/candy blue. but i also notice that the actual 'anodized blue' is flat. i had some pics of a similar effect that he liked (but the other forum is down)...i will have to search thru the PC pics on this site and see if i can find something like his pic, and see how it is done in PC.

If you're looking for Annodized blue pics, maybe trying PBTP forum will help. Not sure about the blue, but there are a handfull of good annodized powdercoat pictures there.
