If you know someone with a megohm (megger) meter have them check ground. You want 1 megohm or less resistance.

Buy a meter. A 10 multimeter from walmart will be able to tell the resistance
Thats already been checked. What I am talking about is not the resistance between part and ground pin, but the resistance between the rod and the true earth.
I have less than 2 ohm between part and electrical panel, so I guess there could be a problem between the grounding rod and the soil. House is old, and could need other ground rod to be up to code.
It needs to be under 25 ohms, but the way to test it requires a device made for this.
I really need to figure out whats going on.
Is the soil real sandy where you're located? Sandy soil is not the best for ground, as a test you could try pouring some water down around the ground rod.
Its a good idea to have a ground rod just for the booth and the powder coating gun. I dug a 1' deep trench that was 3' long and buried (3) 4' ground rods one foot apart. I then took wedding band clamps and attached copper wire to each rod and then ran the wire up inside the shop and to my booth and gun. After this just cover the ground rod up and you are set. I don't know what the specs for grounds are in your state but in Alabama this was the proper way to ground poles. My Hyper Smooth will lay down 3-4 coats with ease without the multi coat tip so wit a proper ground and application technique yours will to I assure you. Just hang in there every new gun has learning curve.

I am having exactly the same issues. I think I have three strands of hair left on my head. Like Vinnie Barbarino once said "I'm so confsused". Any help will be appreciated.
Me and Ty agree completely. Verify Grounds. If you are unsure how to, then maybe get a local expert to help. Good ground is imperative. There is no more simple an explanation given.
So now, the complex stuff?:
Drive or bury a Ground rod (or more than one and jumper all together) as deep as you can (look for at least 4 feet in the ground, if burying, buy an 8 foot ground rod, at least a couple of feet below grade),.... run a very good quality COPPER gorund wire (solid is best, at a large gage, multistrand is OK if you insure it will not corrode, by using a sealer at the connections)....use a SOLID conductor if possible or Use jumper cable sized wiring from the ground rod to the booth/gun (or a block inside the garage/shop, that you can attach to the same stuff). Use Large Gage heavy pieces of copper wire. A terminal that will allow you to use multiple clamps is a good idea inside the shop/garage. This is important if you have a mobile spray booth (wheels), or think you may ever move the booth to accommodate other items/equipment.
A Well Grounded part, grounded to KNOWN GOOD Mother Earth, will allow you to do many coats cold, as long as they have a good clean contact to the ground/hanging hook.
+1 Never just use the outlet ground alone! Also don't use a power strip as they can and have caused issues. I believe there is a diagram of the proper ground setup floating around on these forums somewhere, if I am not mistaken I believe Harley Dad posted it a long time ago but I may be wrong. Anyway just hang in there we will gladly help you through your issues.

It definitely makes sense guys. Though there's gotta be a simpler, less expensive solution. I'm coating eyeglass frames with a 50 kv caswell gun. The solution your giving me sounds like overkill. I'm not doubting you but I need to find a simpler, less expensive way.
Thanks Ty. Avoiding the power strip sounds cheaper already. Do you think connecting directly to a GFCI outlet would make a difference.(if that was funny please don't laugh)
