Default a new guy Q about powder

I am new to powder coating and just bought the caswell 16kv gun to learn with. HF has powder I am sure the quality is not great but I am looking to learn spraying technique and dont want to waste money on expensive powder but I dont want to damage gun with low quality powder. So can low quality powder hurt a gun?

Noobie Q's - Sounds like Barbecue doesn't it?

As best I can answer.... The quality of the powder is not "known" to damage a gun, but will highly affect the control and powder cloud and attraction. That being said, The HF powders have worked OK in 3 guns I have owned... None have suffered from them. That doesn't mean it can't happen.... we all learn new stuff almost daily,... But I can't see how it would cause problems other than if you get cross contamination by poorly cleaning your gun.

Good luck and welcome to powdercoating 101
