    Default powder coating digital graphics

Hi guys, I found this interesting powder coating technique that let's you apply digital graphics to any 3d surface :
Powder Coated Graphics on Bike Frames - Core77

I tried to google for this and the only relevant information I found was this:
How do you do graphics powder coating?

Do any of you guys know any other information of it that could be shared?
(materials, what kind of printer, etc)
Any help would be really appreciated!

It's an expensive thing to get a process license, but would likely be a great dollar maker for a guy with the funding.

    Good luck

i contacted them earlier this week, but haven't heard back. it's not clear from their website (at least to me) whether they license the process or if they do the process themselves. the only place i found the word "license" was regarding the camoflauge patterns, and i think that might mean they're paying for a license to use the patterns in their own work. dunno.

I looked into it last year in July. I came in at the low end of 10 Grand for the process license/ability and basic set-up, minus supplies..... I don't recall what all I was to receive with the "set-up" but I rememebr it didn't include any of the needed supplies, and I was going to have to decide how much of which stuff to buy, which was not cheap either. I started a breakdown of the cost of the process, supplies and more,.... along with powder coating a Motorcycle Gas tank..... If I remember right I could make about 3 dollars on a photo transfer onto a Harley tank (Nothing fancy as far as tanks go) after charging some ungodly price.... seems like around 750 bucks or something.... I just couldn't make it work on paper at all. I could justify buying into it as a production item, like QPC in Carrollton Texas,..... but I don't knwo that I could compete with them in the current market, as they are not only established in the earea, they are quickly becoming a huge National Presence in architectural powder coating using the DYE sublimation process. Only they are only able to offer certain avaialable patterns without submitting new designs for another "texture" or print type..... It's a big money thing in my mind. I'm not nearly that kind of money either.

Thanks for bringing up the idea, I own a graphics shop along with my powder coating and i do heat set dye sublimation on alot of items. never thought about trying on pc but i'll give it a try. If my system will work and I dont see why it wouldnt, Its an investment of around 2000.00 to get started in the process. only thing i dont normally use is vacumn press, we set with heat press instead but I'll check it out and get back soon..
