    Default Help PC over chrome

Hello all. Fairly new here. Been powder coating about a year. Up until recently I've been doing this for myself as a hobby. Posted a few pics in a forum I'm active on and now I have business! Thtas teh good part, now the bad.

Everything I've done so far has been painted, nothing chromed. I've recently tried doing previously chromed parts and I keep getting blemishes. Although the parts are cast, it doesn't look like outgassing to me. Looks like lint or contaminent under the powder. I blasted all the chrome off. Copper and nickel still remained. prebaked, acetone, propane torch, reflective chrome powder, and they look like ****. Will get a pic up when I can. Any ideas?

thee aremsny discussios on painting or powdercoating over previouslypainted or chrome products.Paint is relatively easy to blast and refinishover.Chrome is the most common that finishers have powder coatig over them and with not much success..The most common mistake is they simply take blasting media and sandblast chrome(just toothing it it) for it to accept psinting and/or powdercoating. This does not workmformlong time effects. If you wantntakethechrome and finish off of let says tire rims, so the metal will properly take the other fiinishes you which to apply,..Under chrome you lso will have nickel plating in which the chrome sticks too,..the simplest fashion th strip chrome without useing electrolyts type machinery is quite simple..I this case take te tires off of chrome fiished products in order to successsfully strip the chrame and nickel.Simply sandblasting wii not properly finish the meat for powdercoating/painting...Take youtr tires off ot th rims in quwestion, and srip them chrome of the unit desired to paint /PC...regular original "easy off oven cleaner will strip the chrome down off of rims and such substrtaes...save some money and strip items with a coat of easy offoven clener will take care of this issue..One can of easy off will take care of a set up 4 rims to strip opffth chrome, then prepare the surface(after a wash and baking soda solution to nuetralize the chemicals in easy off....

    Hello pcbeachrat
I know this is a old post but I have a question for you. Are you using regular easy off oven cleaner (in the spray can)? How long do you let it set with the oven cleaner on it? What is your baking soda solution (what are you mixing together)?
