    Default Sand Blasting Filters

Would this be an good setup for a filter for a shop vac? Cyclone filter then a water filter then a box containing a furnace filter and then the shopvac. I would also use this for woodworking, just without the water filter. This is the cyclone design: Homemade Cyclone Dust Collector - by jcoulam @ LumberJocks.com ~ woodworking community

I was just wondering. Would something like this work: Blasting Cabinet then A sealed Vacuum then A bucket full of water. The output of the vacuum goes into a bucket full of water. Maybe a strainer to break up the air bubbles so that dust isn't released when the air bubbles pop.

I would also fill the bottom of the cyclone bucket with water to prevent the dust from going back into the air.

I have a 5 gal bucket with 2 one inch holes in lid.One on side from my cabinet it 1 "pvc goes 6 inches into bucket with a 90 elbow pointed at side. One 1"PVC from shop vac in center of lid and goes to within 2 inches of 4 inches of water in bottom of bucket.
Stick shop vac hose end into PVC.

Wonder what would happen if you extended the piece of pipe with the ell so it was below the water level?

Anything with water creates a mess. There is a company that sells a cyclone for about $120, its pretty much home made but works well! The $120 is well spent vs. taking the time to make your own. You put it on a 5 gal bucket or larger and hook the hoses to your shop vac and it will separate about 95% of what you suck up. Home Depot sells large canister bags and then small bags to put over your shop vac filter. The combination of all of them helps alot! It beats spending $2000 on an industrial vac.

In my pix it shows how it works. One pic is of inside were the inlet has an elbow pointed at side of 5 gal bucket. The filter outlet pipe goes deeper into bucket about 2" above the water in the bottom.
