Default First time using a "candy" color, advice needed.

I've posted in the past that I restore vintage Honda minibikes. I've done several Candy emerald green CT70's in the past and spend a ton of money having them painted. My ovens plenty big enough to powder coat one of these frames so I figure why not, lets give it a shot.

This is the color I'm going for.

Caswell's psycho lime looks close but I know it's probably applied over polished aluminum in this pic.

Any advice on how I should prepare my steel frame for powder? what base coat?

i have used psycho lime a few times before and it does not even come close to your frame color .
i have tried it over plated chrome and over polishing and it looks really more yellow than what you see on the pic .
if your going to do it over steel i would suggest a chrome pc base but i think you should do a few test panels first .

Try granny smith green,it requires a clear coat to make it pop but the look is awesome.

to clarify - It's called "Sparkle Granny Smith" and it's a Dormant Powder. Looks like Sparkle pea soup when you cure the powder, then after the required clear top coat (Glass Clear recommended) the stuff is extremely vibrant and loud as colors go. May be more bling than you are looking for, but would like awesome on one of those minibike frames. check out the PBTP site and teh Powder365.com site, and see what they have,... Caswell doesn't offer it.

If the Sparkle Granny smith has the right color, but needs a darker look,.... try using a silver sparkle that's not really as bright as silver,.... and use the NIC Shocker Yellow as a top coat.... The Shocker yellow is almost the same color as the Granny smith, but it's a Translucent topcoat. so the base coat will have a pretty big affect on the final finish tone or color or hue or whatever you call it...

Thanks guys, I knew I would have to do some testing / experimenting but you guys gave me a good place to start.

Any ideas on the other 2 colors the 4 speed models came in?
