It all depends on your application,bud. Personally....from the things you say you want to do, I'd go with the IR lamp. You can always find a cheap if not free electric oven down the road for doing more specific things. I doub't you'll find one to fit a transmission case in though,lol. IR will suit your purposes (now and future) just fine. ....Russ
