Yeah,... I saw the guy in Houston do the wheels with no real prep.... don't take your wheels to them.... He has no idea how well that will hold up over the long term. Probably even blame the original coating if anything goes wrong, instead of taking responsibility for his **** poor prep.
Do not do them that way, as the factory coatings are done under some VERY tight environmental specs, and you cannot do that at home. (or in a small custom coating shop). Always treat the parts (wheels in this case) as though they are new, fresh parts, that need complete prep. Strip them first, Blast them completely, Pre-treat if you do that, Coat and cure. No shortcuts is basically the rule here.
