I assume the clear you use protects it from physical abuse, because clear itself will not protect the finish from UV. Also, I would try using a 350 degree cure schedule for 30 minutes.....it might help your finish look more pleasing to you.

The clear is required over the chrome powder coat to prevent the aluminum particles in the chrome powder from oxidizing. If you don't clear, your chrome powder will become dull after exposure to the elements.
If you don't plan on having the PC'd item outside, there's no need to clear.
