Ceramic Coatings. aka Jet-Hot

Anyone know where I could get ceramic type coatings, like Jet-hot or something similar? I am looking at trying my hand at this as well, got any info on it as well, such as cure temps, times, equipment needed? Thanks

Caswell offers these from Tech Line

But from what I can tell, none of them will give it that chrome look.
http://www.cermakrome.com sells the chrome coating but they are in the middle of reformulating it. I use it on just about all my exhaust system.

Yea, I re-read the techline coatings and realized after I posted that message. I am gonna give that stuff a shot, once they reformulate it.

How are the Techline Coatings Applied Any Images of what the diff colors look like?

use the chepest spray gun you can find cuz the ceramics wear them out quickly (about ten to twenty pairs of headers)
wal mart sells one from campbell housefield for $20
other than that cure times and temps are listed right here on this site
tech line is the best stuff your going to be able to access
and the cermakrome looks really chromey once polished
for one job polishing and buffing it by hand isnt too too bad
but any more than that and i would look into getting dry shine tumbling media and building or buying a tumbler
vibratory tumblers work more quickly but they're more xpensive and only fit small parts its also harder to build one
but its easy to build a standard tumbler

B4 coating


After coating with the ceramic Chrome (has a gold tint to it because of the shop lights)

All but the last Pic are little red x's. last pic, is that pipe polished or is that how it comes out?

Not for sure why you can't see them
I wish it came out that way. It comes out of the oven all chalky and you have to either bead blast it off or use 0000 steel wool to remove it. If you can afford a large enough tumbler, than it will cut the work in half. Once the chalky residue is removed, you treat it like a bare piece of aluminum that you are going to polish.

The Satin black is a lot less work, you don't even have to bake it on if you don't want to. It can be air dried.
