Default Powdercoater will not work...Helpppp

I have powdercoated with the system several times that I purchased through Caswells last year. I hooked the black ground wire to the part and the small red power light on the left and the small running green light on the left dimmed when I depressed the floor pedal (The metal part was not taking the powder). When I placed the ground wire to the end of my powdercoating gun (to the metal tip) it did not give a spark like it usually did. I put the coater away. I took the coater out today and turned it on. The large on/off switch illuminated red signifying that it was on. But the small red power light and green running light failed to illuminate at all. I then depressed the foot pedal and still did not get them to illuminate. I checked the fuse in the rear and it appears to be fine. Any suggections?
Thanks

No suggestions so far but I have a question.

How many times have you tested your powder coating machine by short circuiting it (aka making a spark between the gun and the ground wire)?

After powdercoating any of my parts I take the ground wire and touch it to the end of the gun and it sparks. But now, nothing.

Hmm, from what you're describing it sounds like your powder coating unit is toast. I don't know the exact interal workings of the unit buy I'm pretty sure that short circuiting 20000 volts is not good for the internals.

Maybe somebody else can chime in with some tests you can do to determine this.

It's suggested to shor tthe ground to the end of the gun after use meaning unplugged and turned off. Contact caswell if it's not working, see if they can maybe get you another one. Good luck!

I had problems with the foot switch. I had to open the pedal up and replace the switch inside. Might be part of the problem.

Thanks for all the help. I will try and take the foot pedal apart and check it out. Hopefully that does it, otherwise I'm gonna have to buy a new unit.

Thanks again...

I might be willing to purchase your unit, if you cannot get it to work. E-mail me at exospex@rochester.rr.com if you are interested.

There is a prime example of why I do business with Caswell! They stand behind what they sell.
