Hi all,
I'm new to powdercoating, and this forum. I've got a DIY powdercoating kit for coating small parts. Currently I'm trying to find a colour. It's the Red that is used on Maserati or Ferrari valve covers. It's the same as the red on the Acura Type-R valve cover too. Here's a pic of what I'm looking for: http://www.aj-racing.com/Products/JD.../DSCN0746a.jpg I'm rebuilding my Alfa Romeo engine, and would like to put this colour on the valve covers. I bought 2 lbs of wrinkle red off ebay, but it's not quite the right colour. It seems too shiny, and not red enough. I don't think it's the right texture, and it's a little bit too rust coloured. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, -Ryan Eyres[/img] |

The closest we can find is the Robin Red Wrinkle that we already stock. See http://www.caswellplating.com/powder...r_colors2.html

I'm not really sure what 1-3 units gloss is, but is it going to look like the pic? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a newbie at this and I've already bought 2 lbs of powder that I'm not gonna use cause it's not quite right.
Thanks in advance, -Ryan Eyres |

1-3 units is a very matte color (meaning that it only reflects 1-3 units of light when tested with a light meter). A color with a gloss rating of 80+ is a high gloss color.
We can't guarantee that it will look like the color in your picture, but the color chip on our web site is accurate. Try a pound and see.

If you try the red robin and its the right shade but not as glossy as you would like, you can add a coat of clear. Try a low gloss clear first and if it still isn't glossy enough, try the higher gloss clears. Sometimes I end up buying powder from several places before finding one that is a match. Trial and error.
